Terminology Management
The terminology of a subject area is the system of terms specific to it.
The terminology of a given subject matter is the set of terms and expressions which are specifically associated with it. The tasks of collating, processing, updating and making available such a store of terms is collectively called terminology management. Correct terminology is an essential prerequisite for successful communication within a specific subject area.
Technical writers, experts and any other people involved in the dissemination of information must have access to the terminology of their field of competence in one or, as the case may be, several languages.
Similarly, the successful execution of any translation or interpreting task depends on a suitable terminology set being researched or otherwise made available and then being competently implemented. We use modern terminology administration programs such as Multiterm.
