Localisation

Localisation of software products means adapting them for use in another language and includes more than translation alone.

Localisation (Latin locus: place) means literally the attempt to establish the exact position of an object or an event, hence the term locality.

The term has now been adopted into computing terminology.

In the context of software development localisation refers to the adaptation and translation of software bearing in mind local conditions which are relevant for the target group.
