Prices and Fees
In the translation industry it is common practice to charge for services according to the number of words translated. In the special case of translation out of Germanic languages prices are often calculated on the basis of standard lines.
For complex translation projects we consider it to be unwise to offer a simple quote per word or per line. By way of comparison, few people would agree to pay a builder by the brick to erect a house. For a single wall – well, perhaps yes: But for a whole house?
We provide you with a no-obligation quote based on your exact requirements free of charge and within 24 hours.
This quote will include consideration of factors such as text specific aspects, formatting requirements and points relating to language management.
Text specific aspects are: the language combination, the quantity of text, the type and subject area of the text and the target group for whom the text is intended.
Formatting requirements could include, for instance, the file formats of the source and target texts, the number and complexity of graphic components, tables and other elements, the formatting quality required for the target text as well as the use of translation memories and terminological databases.
Language management includes the question of the complexity of the project management, additional peripheral requirements, proofreading of the target text, foreign language typesetting and the layout.
Depending on the factors noted above, our line prices (based on a standard line of 55 keystrokes) vary between 1.00 € up to 1.60 € and above. The price per word lies between 0.17 € and 0.23 € and above. For hourly paid work we charge between 40 € per hour (e.g. for foreign language typesetting) and 90 € per hour (for notarial interpreting).
Generally, both translation and interpreting assignments include such specific requirements that reliable tenders can only be made by careful consideration of all the different factors involved. Please ask for a quote by using our on-line request form, sending us an email or giving us a call. We will gladly work out the best possible translation solution with you and then provide you with a no-obligation quotation free of charge.
