Linear Motion Technology

Linear motion technology is concerned with the development and production of components for low-friction linear motion.

Linear motion technology is a sub-discipline of power transmission technology and is devoted to the development and production of mechanical components for motion in a straight line. Geometrically, this type of motion is called translation and is characterised by the fact that all parts of a translated body move along parallel straight paths. Products produced for linear motion are optimised to reduce friction.

This area of technology is further subdivided into guiding systems, drive systems, positioning systems and actuation systems. Such systems can be found in a wide variety of applications, for instance in medical engineering, civil engineering and building technology.
